Issue/Introduction

Guidance on modifying the number of CPUs enabled on hosts in a cluster. 

Environment

VMC on AWS

Cause

Need to modify the number of CPUs enabled on hosts in a specific cluster. 
This could be due to:

  • Applications that are being used in the cluster require licenses on a per-core basis. 
  • Licensing costs or requirements due to the number of CPUs enabled on the hosts have changed. 

Resolution

Once a cluster has been deployed in VMC on AWS, the number of CPUs enabled on the hosts cannot be modified. 
To change the number of CPUs enabled, there are two resolutions:

Note: The number of CPUs enabled on the hosts cannot be modified on the first cluster created (Cluster-1 by default) during initial VMC on AWS SDDC deployment.
