Messaging Gateway does not explicitly log the details of the SMTP session at any log level. Some aspects of the SMTP session are logged in the MTA logs at Information level with the following tags:
- ML-CONNECT - Connection information for delivery
- ML-CONNECT-INFO - IP address of the SMTP server connecting to SMG
- ML-DELIVERY - Successful message delivery from SMG to another server
- ML-DELIVERY_ATTEMPT - Attempt to deliver a message from SMG to another server
- ML-HOST_CONNECTED - Connection from another SMTP server
- ML-HOST_DISCONNECTED - SMTP server disconnected from SMG
- ML-PERMFAIL - Permanent delivery failure including SMTP response from destination server
- ML-RECEIVED - Email message received from another SMTP server
- ML-RECEIVED_RECIPIENT - Recipient information received by sending MTA i.e. "RCPT TO"
- ML-REJECT - SMG has rejected a connection attempt from another server. This includes the SMTP protocol response i.e. "554 x.x.x"
- ML-TRANSFAIL - Temporary delivery failure including SMTP response from destination server
In general, Broadcom recommends using the SMG Message Audit Logs for email message tracking rather then the MTA logs.
