The initialization of the first WP process can take longer than ten minutes.

Issue/Introduction

 

The WP log shows a huge gap in the log file, which requires immediate investigation.

20251027/131249.956 - U00021903 Cache for 'USG' successfully initialized. Length = '20480'
20251027/132626.877 - U00003340 Encryption info: 'AUTHENTICATION = NO'

After activating a TCP/IP=2 and Database=4 trace on the WPs, the following message is shown in the trace file:

20251027/131251.690 -          Call KComInit(SYSTEMNAME,...)
20251027/132626.877 -          Exit KComInit with 0

 

Environment

Automic Automation Engine 24.4.X

OS: Windows Server 2016 and later.

Cause

There appears to be a permissions problem on the Windows Server.

Resolution

 

On startup, the WP process tries to access the SID of the Windows server in the following location, e.g.:

C:\Users\<user_name>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA

And the folder cannot be created.

Check the permissions on this folder or create the SID manually, e.g.:

S-1-2-34-567890123-456789012-345678901-2345

C:\Users\<user_name>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA\S-1-2-34-567890123-456789012-345678901-2345
