Issue/Introduction

In the VMware Cloud Director (VCD) web interface when accessing a vApp you see an error similar to:
Error: "[ ########-####-####-####-############ ] Either you need some or all of the following rights [CATALOG_VIEW] to perform operations [CATALOG_VIEW] for ########-####-####-####-########1234 or the target entity is invalid"

You are using a user in a non standard role with the role "View Shared Catalogs from Other Organizations" enabled

VMware Cloud Director 10.6

Cause

This issue is caused because there is a shared catalog with id ########-####-####-####-########1234 that is not shared with the particular user. In this case VCD will try to load the catalog because the user has the role View Shared Catalogs from Other Organizations but it won't be able to load it because is not shared with the user. This will cause the error to appear.

Resolution

To resolve this issue identify the catalog and share it with the user.
