Issue/Introduction

  • The network is being scoped to the Organization Virtual Data Center (VDC).
  • 'Imported -> Distributed Virtual Port group' is selected as the Network Type.
  • The distributed Virtual port groups has already been successfully imported to create another network in another Tenant VDC.
  • Running the API GET /1.0.0/virtualCenters/resources/importableDvpgs API does not show the portgroup in the response.

Environment

VMware Cloud Director 10.6.1

Cause

An imported network can only added once, to a single VDC or alternatively a Datacenter group (DCG) by design.

Resolution

An imported NSX-T segment network can be made available to multiple VDC through a DCG. A DCG is a container for multiple VDCs (up to 16) belonging to the same tenant, and its primary function is to provide cross-VDC networking features. By adding the imported network to the DCG, it becomes a cross-VDC network accessible by all VDCs in that group.
