VMware Cloud Director Availability - Migration 4.x

Issue/Introduction

Pairing between the on-premises VMware Cloud Director Availability  Manager and the cloud VMware Cloud Director Availability Manager could not be established and failed with below error :

The Manager Service'f1#####################################' was not found.

/opt/vmware/h4/logs/replicator.log indicated:

com.vmware.h4.cloud.api.exceptions.DuplicateOnpremTunnelCertificateException: An on-premise site that uses the same on-premise tunnel certificate is already paired.
    at jdk.internal.reflect.GeneratedConstructorAccessor157.newInstance(Unknown Source)
    at java.base/jdk.internal.reflect.DelegatingConstructorAccessorImpl.newInstance(DelegatingConstructorAccessorImpl.java:45)

This indicates that the pairing workflow was rejected by the cloud site due to certificate conflicts.

Environment

VMware Cloud Director Availability 4.x

Cause

The issue occurred because the on-premises VCDA instance was using a duplicate on-premise tunnel certificate that had already been registered previously.

Resolution

  • Generate or obtain a new, unique on-premise tunnel certificate for the VCDA instance.
  • Once the certificate mismatch is resolved, the pairing workflow can proceed normally.
  • Reference Certificate Document
  • Retry the pairing process.
