- New self signed certificate created or new CA signed certificate is uploaded to NSX, we can see the category of the new certificates are showing as 'Miscellaneous', where as the unexpired certificates which are already in use has the category specified as 'Appliance'
VMware NSX version 4.2 and later
The newly created certificate is categorized as Miscellaneous which is the normal function of NSX 4.2 and later versions.
1. When new CA cert is uploaded or self signed cert is created in NSX, this new certificate is categorized as 'Miscellaneous' and the other working one will be categorized as 'Appliance'.
2. Once we replace this CA cert/Self signed cert with the expiring certificate then we will receive the notification stating 'Certificate Replacement Operation Completed,' and we can see that the new certificate is categorized as 'Appliance and the old one auto deleted
