Failed login attempt events with the wcp-storage-user-<cluster> user

Issue/Introduction

• Monitoring teams have detected authentication failures associated to the wcp-storage-user-<cluster> user
• vpxd-profiler.log displays similar errors:
  "A user attempted to log in with an unknown or invalid username"
• No PW changes were recorded prior to the wcp-storage-users-* user began encountering the authentication error

Cause

Failed Automated Sync: While WCP attempts to automatically sync or refresh these passwords, the automated process can fail due to an underlying issue, leading to the password expiring or going out of sync.

Resolution

Sync the WCP passwords by restarting the WCP service:

service-control --restart wcp
