VMware Aria Operations: VMware Cloud Director Metadata Rate is not showing up in Objects

Issue/Introduction

Metadata-based pricing metrics are not available in VMware Aria Operations, despite the following conditions being met:

• Metadata has been correctly configured in VMware Cloud Director.

• Metadata-based pricing is configured and enabled in the VMware Aria Operations Chargeback console.

This metric collection issue specifically affects inventory objects such as Virtual Machines (VMs) and Organization VDCs (OVDCs).

Aria Operation 8.x

Cause

The Metadata setting was not enabled in the configuration of the VMware Cloud Director Adapter instance in VMware Aria Operations.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, you must enable the Metadata setting in the VMware Cloud Director adapter configuration.

1. Go to the VMware Cloud Director adapter configuration in VMware Aria Operations.

2. Edit the VCD adapter instance.

3. Go to the Advanced Settings.

4. Set the Enable metadata setting to true.

5. Save the configuration.

6. Restart the collection for the VCD adapter instance.

7. Wait for 24 hours to check if the pricing is being calculated based on the metadata settings.
