Issue/Introduction

Cannot proceed vCenter Server upgrade after stage1 because of error below.

The installer is unable to connect to the vCenter Appliance Management Interface. Unable to proceed with stage 2 of the deployment process. Click close to exit the installer.

Cause

This error indicates installer is unable to connect to the destination appliance.

Resolution

Typically, it's caused by configuration mistakes, please check below basic points.

• Check network settings of destination appliance is correct
• Check destination appliance is connected to appropriate portgroup
• Check destination appliance is correctly power on
