Issue/Introduction

- Gateway settings inside the guest were not being retained. Once added, they were removed after the network settings were saved.

Environment

- Windows Virtual Machines, multiple versions.

- VCenter/ESXi versions 8.0 U3, may be other versions as well.

- VMware Tools are current and running.

- VMware Tools re-installation does not fix the issue.

- VMXNet3 and E1000 virtual network drivers in use.

Cause

Additional drivers for network stacks are installed, specifically SK-NSID. Ivanti SK-NSID refers to a filter driver that is part of Ivanti's Device and Application Control (IDAC) software, not a native VMware driver. It is used to control and manage network interfaces, particularly wireless, Bluetooth, and infrared devices, by hooking onto existing network cards, including those within VMware virtual machines

Resolution

Remove/deselect third party driver, or contact Ivanti for third-party configuration and set-up assistance.

Additional Information

Third party drivers and security tools often cause challenges with in-guest settings. Recommend not using them or coordinating with the vendor for correct configurations.
