Issue/Introduction

This article provides information regarding the support status for using vDS + HAProxy as the networking configuration for the vSphere Supervisor.

Environment

VCF 9.0

Resolution

The vDS + HAProxy networking configuration continues to be supported in VCF 9.0. However, please be advised that vDS + HAProxy is deprecated in VCF 9.0. It is planned for HAProxy to be entirely removed from the Supervisor networking options in a future release.

Additional Information

In vSphere Supervisor 8.0, HAProxy is supported and available for use with Supervisor networking. For detailed information, please refer to the documentations: Supervisor Networking (vSphere 8.0).

For new deployments in VCF 9.0, it is recommended to utilize one of the following load balancing solutions for the Supervisor:

  • Avi Load Balancer
  • NSX Load Balancer
  • Foundation Load Balancer

(See: Supervisor Networking (VCF 9.0))

As announced in the VCF 9.0 Release Notes, the use of vDS + HAProxy is deprecated starting with VCF 9.0 and is planned for complete removal in the next major release.
