Issue/Introduction

  • When trying to remove the network from OVDC, encountering below error:

[ xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx ] Entity <Network_Name> cannot be deleted, because it is in use.

  • Unable to delete network
  • Error when deleting a network from a datacenter group in an empty Organization

Environment

VMware Cloud Director 10.6.x

Cause

This issue is occurring because the specified network is still within the scope of the Organization VDCs (OVDCs) in the Data Center Group.

Resolution

We need to ensure that the network scope is reduced and that the specific OVDC is removed from the data center group.

Please follow the steps below to decrease the scope:

  1. Log in to the VMware Cloud Director Tenant Portal.
  2. Navigate to Networking > Networks
  3. Select the radio button next to the specific Data Center Group network.
  4. Click the Decrease Scope button.
  5. Select the Org VDC(s) to remove from the scope and click OK.
  6. Once the scope is restricted and references are removed, proceed with the network deletion.
