Issue/Introduction

Some disk failure has occurred in the hardware RAID configuration, requiring a hot-swap of the drive.
This article describes the impact this will have on the ESXi host and running virtual machines.

Environment

VMware ESXi 8.0

Resolution

Since Hardware RAID is a function of the physical server, please contact your hardware vendor regarding the impact of hot-swapping disks.
For safety purposes, it is recommended to place the ESXi host into maintenance mode when performing a disk hot-swap.

Additional Information
