Issue/Introduction

Administrators using Symantec PGP File Share may encounter an issue where the “Force the encryption of files associated with the following application” field no longer accepts additional input. When attempting to add more items, the field stops accepting characters, leading to the assumption that no further entries can be configured.

Environment

PGP 11.5

Resolution

Verify whether the items being entered are actual applications or if they are installation packages.

Sometimes it may be possible the entries might correspond to installation bundles rather than the installed applications themselves.

What needs to be identified is the actual application executable after installation — not the installer file.

For example:

Correct entry: outlook.exe
Incorrect entry: outlook_installation_x64-bundle.exe
