When performing Advanced Cross vCenter vMotion, the Datastore Cluster does not appear as a selection option for the destination datastore.

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

• The destination vCenter Server has Storage DRS enabled and a Datastore Cluster is configured.
• When you select Cross vCenter Server export in the vMotion wizard, the Datastore Cluster does not appear on the Select storage window.
• Similarly, the checkbox for Disable Storage DRS for this virtual machine does not appear on the Select storage window.
• Individual datastores that are members of the Datastore Cluster are visible in the list of target storage.

VMware vCenter Server 7.x

VMware vCenter Server 8.x

Resolution

This is the expected behavior. Advanced Cross vCenter vMotion does not support Storage DRS. If you wish to migrate a virtual machine into a Datastore Cluster, specify one of the datastores within that Datastore Cluster as the target datastore.
