Issue/Introduction

  • In the TMC dashboard, for cluster it continues to show "Data protection is being enabled" for the "Data protection" feature.

Environment

Tanzu Mission Control - Self Managed

Resolution

Remove all the existing and stuck data-protection configurations and metadata. With the disable command below, the system is instructed to tear down the partial incomplete setup, releasing the cluster from the "enabling" state, and returning it to a clean, disabled state.

  1. Log In with the Tanzu CLI  to the TMC context in which the guest cluster/ workload cluster is present. (Note : TMC Cli has been deprecated)
  2. From the TMC Dashboard (Console), go to Clusters -> CLUSTER_NAME
  3. Confirm the name of the MANAGEMENT_CLUSTER
  4. Confirm the name of the PROVISIONER
  5. Run the below tmc command from the tanzu cli to remove Data Protection:

tanzu tmc data-protection disable --cluster-name <CLUSTER_NAME> --management-cluster-name <MANAGEMENT_CLUSTER> --provisioner-name <PROVISIONER>

NOTE: Any directly attached cluster would have value "attached" for MANAGEMENT_CLUSTER and PROVISIONER
