Issue/Introduction

The following message was encountered when upgrading SYSVIEW from v15.0 to V17.0.  

GSVX406E (VTAM) Open ACB for applid SYSVIEW failed, APPLID not active

Environment

SYSVIEW 17.0
z/OS 2.4

Cause

The possible causes for this type of error are as follows:

• The SYSVIEW APPLID may not be defined in the VTAM configuration, or it may not have been activated.
• The VTAM major node containing the SYSVIEW APPLID may not be active or properly configured.
• The user ID under which SYSVIEW is running may lack the necessary permissions to access the VTAM APPLID.
• Security systems like RACF, ACF2, or Top Secret may be preventing access.
• During the migration from SYSVIEW 15.0 to 17.0, configuration files (e.g., PARMLIB members) may not have been updated correctly.

Resolution

Check the VTAM configuration to ensure the SYSVIEW APPLID is defined.
