Enable Supervisor Cluster failed pending on "Installed and Started Kubernetes Node Agent on the ESXi Host"

Issue/Introduction

When enabling Supervisor Cluster, the task is pending on "Installed and Started Kubernetes Node Agent on the ESXi Host"

Environment

vSphere with Tanzu 

Cause

1. Check the Updates, found the spherelet cannot be installed

2. SSH to the ESXi and run the command to confirm if VIB is installed

localcli software vib list |grep spherelet

Resolution

1. Contact Broadcom Support for more details.

2. Workaround:

(1) SCP VIB from vCenter to ESXi

cd /storage/updatemgr/patch-store/hostupdate/vmw/vib20/spherelet 

scp VMware_bootbank_spherelet_9.0.1.31.6.0-24913416.vib root@<ESXI_IP>:/tmp

(2) Install the VIB on ESXi

 esxcli software vib install -v /tmp/VMware_bootbank_spherelet_9.0.1.31.6.0-24913416.vib

(3) Restart the WCP service on vCenter

 service-control --stop wcp
 service-control --start wcp
