Viewing the statistics on a vDefend Distributed Firewall rule results in an Unknown Host error with code 500050

Issue/Introduction

- When clicking on the statistics icon in a distributed firewall (DFW) rule, an error message appears saying "Error: Unknown Host: <NSX manager host name> (Error code: 500050)"

- The NSX manager host name is missing the domain name portion of the host name

Environment

VMware vDefend Distributed Firewall

Cause

- It is likely that a search domain was not specified during the initial deployment of the NSX manager nodes.

Resolution

Make the following change to each NSX Manager Node:

- Login using an account with admin credentials

- Use the get search-domains command to verify the current search domain configuration

- Use the set search-domains command to add the missing domain name
