Issue/Introduction

After importing custom Dell MIBs for SNMP integration to monitor the Dell iDRAC, the integration shows "OK" and inventory objects are created, but the imported MIB metrics show as "Not supported and no metrics are being collected."

Environment

Aria Operations 8.x

Cause

Even when MIB parsing is successful, new metrics are disabled by default in the active policy. If SNMP access and OIDs have been verified, then disabled metrics is the next most common cause for missing data.

Resolution

Follow these steps in order to enable collection of the imported MIB metrics:

  1. Locate the applicable policy

    • In Aria Operations, go to Administration > Configuration > Policies > Policy Library.
    • Identify the active policy applied to the SNMP‑monitored object (ex: the Dell iDRAC host).
  2. Edit the active policy

    • Click Edit on the active policy.
    • Open Collect Metrics and Properties.
  3. Filter to the MIB / module

    • In the filter box, search for the MIB/module name (for example, iDRAC-SMIv2 or the Dell module you imported).
    • The metrics corresponding to the custom OIDs will be listed.
  4. Enable desired metrics

    • For each desired metric shown with State = Disabled, change the State to Enabled.
  5. Save and wait

    • Save the policy changes.
    • Allow the next collection cycle (typically 5–10 minutes) for metrics to start appearing.
