VMware Live Recovery

Issue/Introduction

When you remove and re-add protection on a VM in a VMware Live Recovery protection group, The configuration is only showing 11 of the 17 disks expected. There are 17 disks that are part of a VVOL-based replication group on a Pure Storage array, all disks are expected to be included. All of the disks are assigned to the same protection policy, matching the Pure Storage configuration with thin-provisioned and “dependent” disk-mode settings.

Environment

VMware Live Recovery 9.0.2

Cause

  • The vSphere VASA provider could not find the identifier for the drive(s)
  • Error message - Disk properties cache miss for disk path: /vmfs/volumes/vvol:################-###############/#######.########-####-####-####-############/vmdk_3.vmdk.
    &
GetVirtualVolumeInfoFromVasa: No Storage Container with id:########-####-####-####-############

Resolution

The operation for creating a protection group is failing due to a problem with disk Identities advertised from the Array. Therefore, vSphere VASA is failing to find the given path provided from the array. Contact Pure Storage Support to troubleshoot the issue.
