Issue/Introduction

Here is an excerpt of the stack trace displayed on the Purple Diagnostic Screen (PSOD).

Environment

VMware ESXi 7.0

Cause

A race condition can occur when a VMFS volume is opened and immediately closed. This concurrent access can lead to a state where a spinlock remains locked, causing the ESXi host to crash with PSOD.

Resolution

ESXi 7.0 U3l has the fix for this.
