Unable to update vRA host in Aria Orchestrator inventory

Issue/Introduction

Attempting to run the Update vRA Host workflow in Orchestrator fails with "Error validating host"

Orchestrator logs review "Failed to get VMware Aria Automation refresh token. Invalid VMware Aria Automation credentials provided." when the credential set is known to be good.

Cause

It is possible that there are MFA requirements on the service account provided to the workflow, preventing successful authentication even when the username and password provided are valid

Resolution

1. Confirm if the service account used in the Update vRA Host workflow is subject to MFA requirements
2. Exempt the service account from these requirements as it will cause its use in workflows to fail
