Issue/Introduction

  • VMware Aria Operations for Logs nodes fail to boot due to a loss of network connectivity. The affected node's console in vCenter Server displays the error: "NO NETWORK DETECTED. PLEASE CHECK THE NETWORK CONFIGURATION"

  • The network configuration is successfully propagated from vApp properties to the networking daemon configuration file (/etc/systemd/network/10-eth0.network) on each VMware Aria Operations for Logs node.
However, when running ifconfig the eth0 interface shows "No carrier".
This typically indicates the virtual Ethernet cable is not connected to the virtual Ethernet port of the virtual machine.

Environment

VMware Aria Operations for Logs 8.18.x

VMware Aria Operations for Logs 8.16.x

Resolution

  1. Ensure that the port state for the VMware Aria Operations for Logs VM is NOT set to "Blocked" in the port group in vCenter.

  2. Verify that no firewall rules are blocking the required ports on the VMware Aria Operations for Logs nodes.
