How to Get Description and Creator Metrics in Aria Operations

Issue/Introduction

This article provides the steps to retrieve the description and creator metrics for virtual machines (VMs) that have snapshots in Aria Operations. By default, the "Creator" and "Description" properties are not enabled, so they must be activated to be used.

Resolution

By default, the "Creator" and "Description" properties for snapshots are not enabled in Aria Operations. In this state, the system does not collect or display "Creator" and "Description" properties metrics under snapshot.

To retrieve the description and creation metrics, you need to activate these properties in the Aria Operations UI.

Refer to the KB 373939 for steps to activate the description and creation metrics for snapshots.

For the description property to show the snapshot details, the snapshot itself must have a valid description. Ensure that the snapshot has been appropriately described which will be reflected in Aria Operations :

Once the "Creator" and "Description" properties are activated and after the 24-hour propagation period, you can retrieve the description and creation metrics for snapshots in Aria Operations as below screenshot :
