Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

  • VM's storage vmotion finished successfully.
  • VM gets crash after storage vmotion
  • VM can not boot up again because no boot disk can be found
  • There is no issue to storage vmotion to other maker's datastore
  • VMID is Enabled on the Qlogic HBA which connects to the backend NetAppstorage

Environment

VMware vSphere ESXi 8.0.x

Cause

NetApp Known issue CONTAP-437623: VMs may crash or fail to boot on ESXi with VMID enabled and QLogic SCSI-FCP target adapters

Resolution

Check with Netapp for fix and workaround.
