Issue/Introduction

Renewing host certificates through vCenter doesn't renew the expiration date on the host even though the task completes successfully in the vCenter tasks section.

Environment

vCenter and ESXi

Cause

Checking the certificate section in Administration > Certificates shows that the VMCA certificate is expiring at the same time the esxi certificates are expiring.

Resolution

Replace the VMCA cert and regenerate all certs with the vCert utility.

Then renew and replace certificates for each esxi host. Renew or Refresh ESXi Certificates
