Issue/Introduction

After deploying a new instance of VLR display of the new replication in the vSphere Replication appliance fails with the following error

Cannot invoke "java.lang.Boolean.booleanValue()" because the return value of "com.vmware.vim.binding.hms.ReplicationTabularInfo.getManagedMpit()" is null

Environment

VLR 9.0.4

VR Appliance 9.0.2

Cause

VMware Live Site Recovery, vSphere Replication, and vSAN Data Protection — are combined into a single VMware Live Recovery  (VLR) appliance.

This error is throw in the VLR appliance, if during a VLR clean deployment where you have an existing VR appliance, you do not implement the converge process.

 - The converge workflow process, syncs the old VR data, unregisters it and powers it off.
 - However, If you choose not to converge you can be left with the old VR appliance running on 9.0.2 running simultaneously with the new converged VLR.

Resolution

Unregister and power off the old unconverged VR appliance.
