Issue/Introduction

This KB explains about how to enable the vSAN Performance Service in vCenter, whether prerequisites are required, and if enabling the service could introduce any impact or risks.

Environment

VMware vSAN (All versions)

 

Resolution

vSAN Performance Service can be enabled on vSAN Cluster and this should not cause any impact to Production environment. 

The following is the prerequisites for enabling vSAN Performance Service. 

  • ESXi version requirement: All hosts in the vSAN cluster must be running ESXi 7.0 or later.
  • Cluster health: Verify that the vSAN cluster is properly configured and has no unresolved health issues.

Deployment type:

    • For vSAN OSA, the Performance Service can be optionally enabled or disabled.
    • For vSAN ESA, the Performance Service is enabled by default but can be configured further.
