Guidance on collecting logs from newly added ESXi hosts in an existing vSphere environment for Aria Operations for Logs

Environment

Aria Operations for Logs

Resolution

Connecting VMware Aria Operations for Logs to vCenter Server
Before you configure VMware Aria Operations for Logs to collect alarms, events, and tasks data from your vSphere environment, you must connect VMware Aria Operations for Logs to one or more vCenter Server systems.

If newly added ESXi hosts are managed by a vCenter Server that has already been integrated with Aria Operations:

  • If "Automatically configure all ESXi hosts" is enabled during the initial configuration:
Aria Operations for Logs will periodically detect any newly added vSphere ESXi hosts that are not yet configured. Therefore, no additional action is required.

  • If "Automatically configure all ESXi hosts" is disabled during the initial configuration:
      1. Expand the main menu and navigate to Integration > vSphere.
      2. Click Configure to begin the configuration of the newly added ESXi hosts.

If newly added ESXi hosts are managed by a vCenter Server that has not been integrated with Aria Operations:
You must add the vCenter Server to Aria Operations for Logs before proceeding with the configuration of the ESXi hosts.
