Issue/Introduction

When attempting to upgrade VMware Aria Operations for Logs, the Upgrade Cluster option is greyed out and unavailable within the Management > Cluster page.

Environment

VMware Aria Operations for Logs 8.18.x

Cause

This issue occurs because a valid license has not been applied to the product.

When an evaluation license expires and a permanent license is not assigned, VMware Aria Operations for Logs runs in Restricted Mode. While in Restricted Mode, the ability to upgrade the product to a newer version is disabled.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, apply a valid permanent license to the environment:

  1. Log in to the VMware Aria Operations for Logs user interface.

  2. Navigate to Management > License.

  3. Verify the current license status.

  4. Add a valid permanent license key.

  5. Navigate back to Management > Cluster.

  6. Verify that the Upgrade Cluster option is now available.
