Datastore maintenance mode task is stuck at 1%

Issue/Introduction

Symptom:

• Enter SDRS maintenance mode monitor task is stuck at 1%.
  
  

Environment

VMware vSphere ESXi

Cause

• Maintenance mode task detected orphan files which are not associated with any active VMs.
  
  
  

Resolution

• Validate whether the orphan files are actually required or not. If required move it to a different datastore directory.
  
  
• Incase these leftover files are not required, simply follow below steps -
  
  
  • Unmount datastore
  • Detach the underlying LUN for the datastore on all the hosts.
  • Perform a rescan on all the hosts, where this LUN was presented.
  • Unmap the LUN from the storage side.
