Issue/Introduction

  • A VM with a specific hard disk size shows a higher storage value under the Datacenter section.

  • The displayed storage includes additional capacity that does not match the hard disk size.

Environment

VMware Cloud Director 10.x

Resolution

VMware Cloud Director uses a combined parameter to represent total storage, calculated as:

Total Storage = Hard disk size + Allocated Memory

Example:
Configuration:

  • VM Hard Disk: 500 GB
  • VM Memory: 16 GB

Calculation:

Total Storage = 500 GB (Disk) + 16 GB (Memory) = 516 GB
