Offline Bundle Transfer Utility cannot be used to upload items to SDDC Manager with version 9.x and above

Issue/Introduction

• The SDDC Manager was upgraded to version 9.0 while other components remained at VCF 5.x.
• When the customer attempted to use the Offline Bundle Transfer Utility (OBTU) to upload the VCF 9 update binaries, the utility failed with an error, as shown in the obtu.log.

Bundle Transfer Utility Tool failed with error : Offline Bundle Transfer Utility cannot be used to upload items to SDDC Manager with version 9.x and above.

Caused by: com.vmware.evo.sddc.lcm.tools.bundletransfer.exception.BundleTransferUtilityException: Offline Bundle Transfer Utility cannot be used to upload items to SDDC Manager with version 9.x and above.

Remedy: The VMware Cloud Foundation Download Tool should be used

Environment

SDDC Manager 9.0

Cause

The Offline Bundle Transfer Utility (OBTU) is only compatible with SDDC Manager versions 5.x and earlier.

Resolution

For SDDC Manager version 9.0 and later, you must use the VCF Download Tool to upload binaries.
