Unable to remove/delete unused licenses in the VCF Business Services Console

Issue/Introduction

• Unable to remove split licenses that are no longer in use from the VCF Business Services Console in VCF Operations 9.x
• Attempting to delete gives the following error "Cannot Delete License: To delete the license, you must first remove it from the VCF Operations Instance": 

• Attempting to remove fails with error: "Failed to dissociate license manager as consumed quantity is greater than 0 for allocation id <id>":

VCF Operations 9.x

 

Resolution

• Try to deactivate via KB: How to deactivate a license currently assigned to a VCF Operations 9.0 instance

If deactivating the license does not work, this is a known issue in VCF 9.0. VMware by Broadcom is working toward adding a solution to deal with this situation in a future release. Until then, the stale license entry can be ignored.
