Issue/Introduction

VM clone takes 20+ minutes longer to complete when the source VM being cloned has an ISO attached.

Environment

VMware vSphere ESXi 8.x

Cause

Reading the ISO file takes a long time to complete.

/var/log/hostd.log reports logging similar to:

Resolution

Workaround:

Remove the ISO from the VM prior to cloning.
