Regarding to License Usage fluctuation for vDefend Firewall licenses

Issue/Introduction

• Collect usage data for vDefend Firewall licenses without any error on Usage Meter Notification
• Using both Distributed Firewall license and Edge Gateway Firewall license
• Although no settings or configuration changes have been made on the system side, usage frequently fluctuates

Environment

Usage Meter 9.x

Resolution

The actual usage of vDefend FW licenses is calculated based on the number of active physical cores of the ESXi host for Distributed FW, and based on the number of virtual cores allocated to the Edge Node VM for Gateway FW.

The following reasons are considered for changes in usage:

• Hosts without running VMs are excluded from billing, so usage fluctuates.
• When NSX Distributed Firewall usage is not present during that time, it is not counted as NSX usage.
