Issue/Introduction

When attempting to configure a new adapter instance for an additional vSphere Replication server in VMware Aria Operations, the operation fails with the following error message:

"Failed to create AI resource. Resource with same key already exists."

Environment

Aria Operations 8.x

Cause

The error appears because the Primary vSphere Replication Management (VRM) appliance had already been added as an Adapter instance in the Aria Operations.

When you configure the adapter instance for the Primary vSphere Replication Management (VRM) appliance, the adapter automatically identifies and collects data from all additional vSphere Replication servers registered to that primary appliance.

Resolution

Manual creation of separate adapter instances for additional vSphere Replication servers is not required.

To ensure complete monitoring of your replication environment:

  1. Create a single adapter instance, targeting the vCenter Server that manages the primary vSphere Replication appliance.

  2. Allow the collection cycle to complete.

  3. To verify that the additional servers are being monitored, navigate to: Environment > Inventory > vSphere Replication Adapter > vSphere Replication Server

  4. Ensure that your additional servers are listed in this view.
