Error while upgrading NSX manager nodes "error_code": 36580

Issue/Introduction

• NSX is being upgraded from 4.1.x to 4.2.x
• The final phase of the NSX upgrade is the NSX Manager nodes upgrade.
• This final phase may encounter an error when attempting to upgrade the Operating System (OS) of one of the NSX Manager nodes.
• The upgrade failure occurs specifically at the "Node OS Upgrade" step.
• The resulting failure includes an error message similar to the following: 

Unexpected error while upgrading upgrade unit: [MPP] Node upgrade failed : org.springframework.web.client.HttpServerErrorException$InternalServerError: 500 Internal Server Error: "{"error_code": 36580, "error_message": "Error proxying request to: <NSX-Manager-Node-UUID>.", "module_name": "node-services"}".

• The Retry button in the NSX UI does not resolve this issue.
• The NSX upgrade cannot be completed with the above error message.

Environment

VMware NSX 4.1

Cause

The exact cause of the issue is still being investigated.

Resolution

Customers experiencing this problem are required to open a Broadcom Support Request and upload the support bundle from the operational NSX Manager nodes (if available).
