Issue/Introduction

Attempting to renew the SSL certificate in the Admin UI of VCF Operations 9.0.x and you receive an error similar to:

"operation failed. please ensure there is an active connection to the server and try again. for troubleshooting, check the logs for more details."

Environment

VCF Operations 9.0.x

Cause

The files in the certificate are not in the correct order as detailed in Configure a Certificate For Use With VCF Operations

Resolution

Review Configure a Certificate For Use With VCF Operations and ensure the certificate is of the format:

The finished PEM file should look similar to the following example, where the number of CERTIFICATE sections depends on the length of the issuing chain:

-----BEGIN CERTIFICATE-----
(Your Primary SSL certificate: your_domain_name.crt)
-----END CERTIFICATE-----
-----BEGIN RSA PRIVATE KEY-----
(Your Private Key: your_domain_name.key)
-----END RSA PRIVATE KEY-----
-----BEGIN CERTIFICATE-----
(Your Intermediate certificate: DigiCertCA.crt)
-----END CERTIFICATE-----
-----BEGIN CERTIFICATE-----
(Your Root certificate: TrustedRoot.crt)
-----END CERTIFICATE-----

Failure to comply with the above format may result in the cluster being affected or even harmed.

Additional Information

The error is being reviewed and will be more descriptive in VCF Operations 9.1.
