VLAN ID missing in the packet capture collected via ESXi port mirroring

Issue/Introduction

• Port mirroring session type is configured as distributed port mirroring.
• VLAN ID tag is not seen in the ethernet header of captured packets.

Environment

VMware vSphere ESXi 

Resolution

This is an expected behavior, when the session type for the port mirroring session is set to Distributed Port Mirroring, Remote Mirror Source or Remote Mirror Destination , the switching VLAN tag will not be in the mirrored packets.
