Issue/Introduction

  • The uptime shown for the Service Engine in the Controller GUI does not match the actual uptime of the Service Engine.

Environment

  • AVI load balancer

Cause

  • The uptime shown in the Controller UI resets whenever the Controller restarts or the connection to the Service Engine is re-established.
  • The value displayed reflects only the duration of this renewed connection and not the actual system uptime of the Service Engine.

 

Resolution

  • To verify the actual SE system uptime, log in directly to the Service Engine and run: uptime
  • This displays the real OS uptime since the last SE reboot.
  • Recommended to rely on direct SE login when assessing reboot or stability issues.
