TKGI Management Console is marking Ops Manager in red (DOWN) state.

Issue/Introduction

• In TKGI Management Console, on the TKG Integrated Edition section, you see "FAILED - VIEW DETAILS".
• Ops Manager is marked DOWN in red
• When navigating to TKGI Configuration, under DEPLOYMENT STATUS, you see the "Deploy ops-manager" operation showing Failed with the following status:
  
  failed to retrieve OM deployment config: cannot find a proper datastore for the management-only az: cannot find a proper datastore to deploy ops-manager.


• The Ops Manager VM is otherwise fully operational and shows no other error conditions.

Environment

This condition was observed on TKGI MC 1.22.1 managing Ops Manager 3.0.37

Cause

The error message reported in TKGI Management Console for Ops Manager occurs when the Host Group in vSphere backing the Management Only AZ has no ESXi hosts added. This is likely caused by a user removing ESXi hosts from this Host Group.

Resolution

Add ESXi hosts back to the Management Only AZ Host Group in vSphere, then, from TKGI MC, regenerate and apply the config without making changes to the configuration. This will correct the error condition and Ops Manager will report ACTIVE status again.
