The vGPU driver module failed to load after installing vGPU Driver version 19.2 (580.95.02).

Issue/Introduction

After installing vGPU Driver19.2 (580.95.02), the vGPU Driver module cannot be loaded.

Below is the sample command output:

#vmkload_mod -l | grep  -e nvidia
(this command returns no output)

#nvidia-smi -q --display=Ecc
NVIDIA-SMI has failed because it couldn't communicate with the NVIDIA driver. Make sure that the latest NVIDIA driver is installed and running.

Environment

ESXi 8.0

Cause

NVIDIA vGPU software 19.2 is not compatible with ESXi under ESXi 8.0 U3 P06.

Resolution

Update the ESXi to the  ESXi 8.0 U3P06 (ESXi 8.0 U3g) or higher version.

Earlier VMware vSphere Hypervisor (ESXi) 8.0 builds are not supported.
