Deprecation and Removal of Apple Profile Management Solution

Issue/Introduction

The legacy Apple Profile Management Solution is being removed due to its reliance on outdated macOS approaches, which stopped functioning several years ago.

Environment

• IT Management Suite (ITMS) 8.7.1 and later.

• Component: Apple Profile Management Solution.

• Replacement: macOS MDM functionality introduced in ITMS 8.6 RU2.

 

Cause

The original implementation of the Apple Profile Management Solution utilized legacy macOS approaches that are no longer supported. The new macOS MDM functionality introduced in ITMS 8.6 RU2 serves as the replacement. 

Resolution

Refer to our ITMS 8.7.1 Release Notes

Upon upgrading to ITMS 8.7.1 (or 8.7 RU1):

• The legacy Apple Profile Management Solution will be automatically uninstalled.

• Customers should use the macOS MDM functionality (available since 8.6 RU2) as the replacement for managing macOS profiles.
