Issue/Introduction

  • Identity manager fails to boot with Failed dependency error for net-snmp package in the /opt/vmware/var/log/update/vidm-CSP-102092-update.log after applying patch CSP-102092 .  Example of the extract from the log below:
    root@<VIDM> [/]# tail /opt/vmware/var/log/update/vidm-CSP-102092-update.log

  • Identity manager fails to boot with Failed dependency error for tcpdump package in the /opt/vmware/var/log/update/vidm-CSP-102092-update.log after applying patch CSP-102092 .  Example of the extract from the log below:

Environment

Identity Manager 3.3.7

Cause

Additional package RPM files installed that are not native to the deployment.

Resolution

 Uninstall any non-standard packages listed in the /opt/vmware/var/log/update/vidm-CSP-102092-update.log that is causing the patch to fail with error: Failed dependencies:.

  1. Revert VIDM snapshots for all nodes prior to applying the CSP-102092
  2. Take fresh snapshot of all VIDM appliances. You can use the following KB as a guide to take snapshots How to take a Snapshot of VMware Identity Manage
  3. SSH into the VIDM appliance(s) as root.
  4.   Run Command:
    rpm -e <package>
  5. Repeat step 3 and 4 for each VIDM node
  6. Reapply the CSP-102092 as per KB CSP-102092 Patch Instructions for VMware Identity Manager 3.3.7 and VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle 8.18.0 Patch 5
