Issue/Introduction

This article explains how to omit the domain name when logging in with "Active Directory via LDAP" and "Active Directory (Integrated Windows Authentication)".

Environment

vCenter Server

Resolution

When using "Active Directory (Integrated Windows Authentication)," the Kerberos protocol is used to complete the realm even when only the user name is entered, allowing you to log in without entering the domain name.
When using "Active Directory over LDAP," you can log in without entering the domain name by following the steps below.

[Procedure]
1. Log in to the vSphere Client.
2. Click the hamburger menu (≡) in the upper left corner of the screen.
3. Click Administration > Single Sign-On > Settings.
4. Click Identity Providers > Identity Sources > select the desired domain.
5. Click Set as Default.
6. Log out of the vSphere Client and verify that you can log in without entering the domain name.
