Issue/Introduction

Downloading the VMware Tools 13.0.5.0 exe installer from the official VMware Product Files page receive an empty ZIP file or an incomplete download instead of the executable.

Cause

A network security rule (e.g., firewall, proxy, or DLP policy) is in place that specifically blocks the downloading of .exe files from external sources.

Resolution

• Request an Exception: Contact your internal Network/Security Team to request an exception or temporary allowance for the specific VMware download URL or the .exe file type.

Or

• Have an authorized user whose network profile bypasses this rule download the file.
