Arcotadmin and UDS service wont start

Issue/Introduction

Problem:

The Arcotadmin and UDS service will not start after modifying the $ARCOT_HOME\conf\arcotcommon.ini

 

Error displayed

 [10/Apr/2016:06:48:44 -0400] "POST /arcotuds/services/ArcotUserRegistrySvc HTTP/1.1" 500 576

 [10/Apr/2016:06:48:50 -0400] "GET /arcotadmin/adminlogin.htm?orgname=administrators HTTP/1.1" 500 - .

[FATAL] Startup Failure: File arcotcommon.ini is either missing or the section arcot/db/dbconfig is missing

[ERROR] Error while reading common configuration, arcot/db/dbconfig is missing in the ini files

 

Cause:

While modifying the file there was something that was corrupted or an invalid setting was added

 

Resolution/Workaround:

Removing the invalid section or restore the original file. In linux environments modifying a file in windows and simply coping the file to the linux machine may add ^M markers which would effectively corrupt the file.
